What is the MG4 Urban EV?

The MG4 Urban is MG's newest electric hatchback, launched in Singapore at VivoCity on 17 April 2026. It switches to a front-wheel-drive layout and rides on a new cell-to-body platform, freeing up cabin space and delivering a 54kWh battery with a claimed 405km WLTP combined range (up to 586km WLTP city). It's positioned as the more grown-up, everyday-focused MG4 — less playful than the outgoing rear-driven car, but more practical for daily driving.

How is the MG4 Urban different from the original MG 4?

Two big changes. First, the MG4 Urban is front-wheel drive rather than rear-wheel drive — freeing up cabin space, particularly at the rear where both legroom and headroom are noticeably better. Second, it sits on a new cell-to-body platform that integrates the battery cells directly into the chassis. The cabin is also more modern with ambient lighting, felt-like dashboard materials, and a 12.8-inch touchscreen. Trade-off: it's less playful to drive than the original rear-driven MG 4.
