On the Road

Same platform, same suspension, same chassis. Ride quality, steering feel and handling dynamics are essentially identical between the two. Comfort-tuned suspension that absorbs road imperfections properly. Composed body control through corners. Steering that's accurate rather than sharp. Enthusiasts wanting a more engaging drive will feel the same mild frustration with both.

The difference is outright performance. The Urban's 110kW is smooth and lag-free — overtaking on the highway is manageable, never stressful, but never exciting. The Cat B RWD's 268bhp changes the character meaningfully. Noticeably quicker off the line, more confident through overtakes, genuinely satisfying when you need it. That 3.1-second gap from 0 to 100km/h gets felt in everyday driving far more than the spec sheet suggests.

Noise insulation is identical across both variants. Decent but not exceptional — quiet in the city, some tyre and wind noise at expressway speeds. Neither is objectionable. Neither is class-leading.

Verdict

🏁 Cars&TechSG Verdict

The honest answer is that the Zeekr X Urban is a better financial decision for most buyers. You're getting the same exterior, the same comfort, the same charging speed and the same infotainment. The gap isn't in what you see or feel on most drives — it's in the cabin experience once you know what's missing. No Yamaha. No ambient lighting. No fridge. If you've never sat in a Cat B X, you probably won't miss them.

The Cat B RWD earns its premium for a specific type of buyer. If you spend meaningful time in the car and the in-cabin atmosphere matters to you — that Yamaha system, those 17 lighting presets, the extra punch off the line — then the Cat B makes a convincing case. It's a better car. The question is whether it's a better car by enough to justify the COE gap and higher running costs.

Buy the Urban if you're being smart. Buy the RWD if you want the full experience and can absorb the cost. Both decisions are defensible.

Choose the Urban if you…

Zeekr X Urban Cat A

Want Cat A COE savings and don't need the Yamaha audio, ambient lighting or fridge. For the daily commuter or family buyer who wants a premium-feeling EV with the full Zeekr design — and will mostly notice the differences only if they've sat in the Cat B. The external speaker is a fun bonus. Practical, smart, honest value.
Choose the X RWD if you…

Zeekr X RWD Cat B

Want the full Zeekr X feature set — Yamaha audio, ambient lighting, fridge, faster acceleration and a stronger all-round package. Cat B premiums are a real cost, but the X RWD earns them with a more complete cabin and driving experience. Buyers who value the in-car atmosphere and occasional spirited driving will feel the difference daily.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Zeekr X should I buy — Urban or RWD?
It depends what you use the car for daily. The Urban covers the fundamentals well — ventilated seats, the same exterior, 150kW DC charging, 441km WLTP — at a meaningfully lower COE cost. What it gives up versus Cat B: the Yamaha 13-speaker audio, 17 ambient lighting presets and the built-in fridge. If you won't miss those features, the Urban is the smarter financial call. If you want the full Zeekr X experience in the cabin, the Cat B RWD is the one.
Is the Cat B Zeekr X RWD worth the extra cost over the Urban?
For buyers who spend a lot of time in the car or prioritise the in-cabin experience, yes. The 13-speaker Yamaha system, 17 ambient lighting presets and faster 5.6-second 0-100km/h time add up to a noticeably richer ownership experience. For buyers who mainly commute and want premium looks without premium running costs, the Cat A Urban covers the daily essentials and looks identical from outside. The price gap between Cat A and Cat B COE is the key deciding factor — it's not a small difference.
Do both Zeekr X variants have rear air-conditioning?
No — neither the Urban (Cat A) nor the RWD (Cat B) has rear air-conditioning vents. This applies to the entire Zeekr X range. In practice, the front vents cool the cabin reasonably well, but it's a limitation worth knowing before you decide — especially if rear passenger comfort in hot weather matters to you.
