Introduction

The Zeekr X is one of those cars that doesn't shy away from making a statement. It's a compact SUV on paper, but in person it feels more like a lifestyle car — blending everyday usability with high-tech luxury. With its sharp exterior, modern cabin and strong electric performance, it positions itself as a compelling alternative to the usual premium EVs in this segment.

02

Exterior Design

The Zeekr X's headlights are one of its most distinctive design elements. A split-lamp layout positions thin LED DRLs higher along the bonnet line, with main headlight units lower in the bumper — creating a layered, three-dimensional look with a claw-like sharpness. The LEDs handle daytime running, turn signals and width indicators in a single integrated setup. From the side, frameless doors and flush-fitting handles create a seamless, almost coupe-like profile. At the rear, the full-width LED light bar ties everything together with a subtle roof spoiler. Dynamic LED animations on both front and rear clusters serve as indicators and a welcome sequence — giving the car a sense of character as it acknowledges your approach.

Interior & Technology

Where Zeekr wanted to impress most is the lighting package and the cabin tech. The 17 ambient lighting presets carry the design flair indoors — the "ice block" style diffused lights feel clean, not gimmicky, and can sync with music or be set to a fixed colour. The 14.6-inch central infotainment display runs a Snapdragon 8155 processor — sharp graphics and smooth performance. Paired with an 8.8-inch digital cluster, everything feels fast and responsive. OTA updates mean the system should only improve over time.

Seating is equally strong — electronically adjustable front seats with ventilation and 4-way lumbar on the flagship trim, matched by premium upholstery and a panoramic roof that adds airiness. The 13-speaker Yamaha system is a genuine highlight, delivering deep bass and crisp highs. Cabin noise insulation is well-managed — Zeekr clearly prioritised the acoustic environment. The real star for audio lovers, though, is that Yamaha system making the X feel like a rolling concert hall.

Practicality

For its size, the Zeekr X offers a spacious second row — legroom and headroom are generous enough for adults, and the flat floor helps with comfort. One notable omission: no rear air-conditioning vents. In practice, the front vents manage to cool the whole cabin efficiently, but it's worth noting for buyers who prioritise rear passenger comfort on hot days. The boot offers 362 litres — compact but practical for daily use, expanding to over 1,200 litres with seats folded. A small 21-litre frunk with a tyre repair kit underneath adds further EV practicality.

Driving Experience

On the road, the RWD version feels perfectly suited for everyday driving — plenty of punch off the line, power delivered in a smooth and predictable way. It's not the Zeekr X that will put you in a cold sweat; that honour belongs to the AWD model with its 3.8-second sprint. But for daily expressway use, the RWD's 268bhp provides confident, effortless progress. Handling is safe and predictable, though enthusiasts may wish for a sharper steering feel. Where the X truly shines is in comfort — the suspension is well-tuned to absorb bumps and uneven surfaces, making it easy to live with every day.

Verdict

The Zeekr X positions itself smartly — a compact EV that doesn't try to be another commuter SUV. It brings standout design, premium interior details and tech-heavy features to the table, making it feel special without the sky-high pricing. It doesn't feel luxurious in the traditional sense — the materials are premium, not opulent. But comfort, tech and distinctive design make a very strong cumulative case.

If you value comfort, technology and a car that looks like nothing else in the segment, the Zeekr X is one of the most complete compact EVs available today. It's worth a test drive.

"It's not luxurious in the traditional sense — but it's distinctively premium in a way that most competitors simply aren't."
