Introduction

The Zeekr 7X Performance AWD isn't trying to be a track toy. It's trying to be the car you step into after a long day and feel instantly better. On both counts — quick and comfortable — it mostly delivers. Under the skin sits a 100kWh battery feeding a dual-motor AWD setup good for 475kW (637bhp) and 710Nm, with Zeekr quoting 3.9 seconds for the 0-100km/h sprint.

What surprised us more than the numbers was how composed everything felt once the initial shove settled. This isn't a car that feels like it's fighting its own weight to get there — and once you step past the powertrain, the cabin makes an even stronger case for why the Performance badge is worth the money.

Exterior Design

The 7X wears its size well. At 4,787mm long on a 2,900mm wheelbase, it's a proper flagship-sized SUV, and the 20-inch rims fill the arches without looking like an afterthought. The lines are clean rather than fussy — this is a car that doesn't need to shout to look expensive.

Interior & Technology

Step inside and the plush, premium feel is immediate. Nappa leather seats are exclusive to the Performance variant, and it shows — the finishing throughout the cabin feels a step above what we'd expect at this price point. The three-tone ambient cabin lighting is a nice touch too, letting you dial in a mood rather than being stuck with one fixed hue.

🪡
Material NoteRun a hand across the seats and the difference is obvious — this is where the Performance variant's price actually goes. The nappa leather has a softness and grain that the standard cabin simply doesn't have, and it's the kind of detail you only fully appreciate after sitting in both back to back.

Storage space throughout the cabin is generous, and the in-car fridge and heater are genuinely useful rather than a gimmick. Zeekr's sound system pulls its weight too — rich enough that you'll want to leave it on over Bluetooth calls.

🚪
Auto Doors: They add a genuine touch of luxury — there's something satisfying about not having to reach for a handle. That said, if we're honest, we still find ourselves preferring manual doors day-to-day simply because they're faster to use when you're in a hurry.
⚠️
Software Quirk: Android Auto threw up a "connection failed" message every time we started the car, requiring a tap on "OK" before continuing. It's a minor annoyance rather than a dealbreaker, and quite possibly just a software bug that gets ironed out in a future update — but worth knowing about before you buy.

Rear Cabin & Practicality

Families will appreciate the advanced child lock system, paired with a rear-seat OMS (occupant monitoring system) camera that keeps an intelligent eye on children in the back — a feature that goes beyond the usual tick-box child lock you'd find elsewhere. The rear seats themselves are adjustable and come with built-in sunshades, which makes a real difference on longer drives.

Driving Experience

The acceleration is genuinely thrilling for the Performance variant — not just quick in a straight line, but the kind of pull that catches you off guard even when you're expecting it. Steering feels accurate rather than artificially weighted, and grip levels are strong enough that you don't feel like you're asking too much of the car through faster corners. Despite the battery and motors, it doesn't feel heavy to move around — turn-in is responsive and there's none of the ponderous, "I know this is a big EV" feeling that some rivals suffer from.

Handling and cornering stability are genuinely impressive for a car this size. The adaptive suspension does a good job soaking up bumps without turning the ride wallowy, and body control stays tidy even when you pick up the pace. One caveat: this isn't a car that wants to be thrown into corners aggressively — push too hard and the comfort-first setup starts to show its limits, so we'd stick to a brisk, confident pace rather than treating it like a hot hatch.

Charging is where the 800V platform pays off. Zeekr rates it for up to 22kW AC and fast DC charging on the 800V setup, which matters more in daily use than the sprint time ever will. WLTP range comes in at 540km — respectable for a car with this much power on tap.

"Thrillingly quick when you want it, plush and composed when you don't — the 7X Performance doesn't ask you to choose."

Verdict

The Zeekr 7X Performance AWD nails the brief it sets for itself — a luxurious, tech-loaded EV that also happens to be genuinely quick. The cabin feel and the technology packed in are the real stars here, backed up by a powertrain that doesn't feel like a spec-sheet exercise.

Minor gripes like the Android Auto message and our own preference for manual doors don't take away from what is, on the whole, a seriously compelling package. We totally enjoyed the luxury feel of the cabin and the technology embedded throughout — this one goes straight onto the shopping list.
