Unveiling the Ride

The BYD M6 brings back memories of the once-popular Toyota Wish, but with a modern twist. Walk around it and you'll notice it's slightly bigger, with a sleek, contemporary design that proves family MPVs don't have to look outdated. It's not designed to look aggressive — that's intentional. This is a car built for comfort and practicality first, suited perfectly to family use. Modern touches like LED headlights, a stylish rear light bar and dynamic signal indicators keep it visually current without chasing unnecessary drama.

The moment you step in, the spacious legroom across the first two rows is immediately apparent. The third row is noticeably tighter, but it still comfortably accommodates seven passengers in total. Premium leather upholstery with fine stitching adds a touch of luxury you wouldn't necessarily expect at this price point, and electronically adjustable front seats round out the comfort package.

02

Interior & Comfort

The cabin design strikes a sensible balance between style and function. A flat-bottom steering wheel, a 12.8-inch rotatable infotainment screen and integrated climate controls create an experience that feels high-tech without being unnecessarily complicated. Rear passengers in the middle row get their own physical aircon controls — a genuinely thoughtful touch — and physical buttons survive on the steering wheel for anyone who prefers not to dig through touchscreen menus for everything. The panoramic sunroof brightens the whole cabin, giving it a more vibrant, airy feel than the exterior might suggest.

03

Practicality

Folding down the third-row seats unlocks 580 litres of storage, making the M6 genuinely practical for road trips or family outings rather than just daily errands. And if occupants get bored on a long drive, the built-in karaoke system (microphones sold separately) is there to turn dead time into something more fun.

04

On-Road Sensations

Despite its size, the BYD M6 is easy to manoeuvre, making city driving and parking genuinely hassle-free. As a family mover, comfort takes priority over outright pace — expect a smooth, relaxed drive rather than quick acceleration or sporty handling. Body roll is acceptable for the segment, and the brakes were a pleasant surprise on first use — well-controlled and confidence-inspiring, which matters when you're carrying a full load of passengers.

Sound insulation does a good job keeping road noise at bay, though wind noise becomes more noticeable at higher speeds. On the safety front, the M6 comes well equipped — a 360-degree camera, reverse parking camera, blind spot assist and rear traffic alert all help keep you aware of your surroundings and avoid unnecessary mishaps.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦
This is a car engineered around the passenger experience, not the driver's thrill. If you're cross-shopping for outright performance, look elsewhere in BYD's range — the M6's entire design brief is calm, comfortable family transport.
"If you value practicality and comfort over outright pace, the M6 is a strong contender in the family MPV segment — and the price point makes it an easy one to consider."
