Charge+ Just Turned Tampines Retail Park Into One Giant EV Pit Stop — 38 Chargers, Four Malls, Zero Excuses

If you've ever put off charging your EV because it meant sitting in a car park doing nothing for half an hour, Tampines just got a lot more convenient. Charge+ has rolled out what it's calling its largest EV charging cluster yet, spread across four buildings in Tampines Retail Park — Giant Hypermarket, IKEA Tampines, COURTS Tampines and T-Space — with 38 charging points between them.
The launch was officiated at Giant Hypermarket, where Minister of State Baey Yam Keng cut the ribbon on the new six-point DC fast charging hub. It's a decent turnout for what is, on paper, just another car park upgrade — but the numbers behind it are worth paying attention to.

Giant Hypermarket

IKEA Tampines
The biggest spread of the cluster, and mostly AC — makes sense given how long an IKEA trip tends to run. Perfect for a slow, full-battery top-up.
COURTS Tampines
A mid-range mix — enough DC for a quick charge, plenty of AC if you're taking your time browsing electronics and furniture.
T-Space
All-DC, no AC — this one's built purely for fast top-ups rather than long-stay parking, likely serving the office crowd at T-Space itself.
What actually makes this cluster interesting isn't the headline number — plenty of malls have chargers now — it's the mix. You've got fast DC chargers for the "I need 20 minutes and I'm out" crowd, and a big spread of AC points at IKEA for people doing the full furniture-shopping marathon where the car's going to sit for a couple of hours anyway. That's a sensible way to plan a cluster, and it's the kind of detail that tells you someone actually thought about how people use these car parks, rather than just bolting chargers onto whatever spaces were left over.
The location itself is well thought out. Sitting right beside the TPE, with easy access to the PIE and a straight run to Changi Airport, this cluster isn't only convenient for people living in Tampines — drivers coming from Pasir Ris, Punggol and Sengkang could just as easily swing by on their way through.
120kW DC turbo chargers flank the entrance, with signage on the network's regional footprint and rebate program.
Charging without the sting of parking fees
One thing I'll call out because it genuinely matters: parking at these charging lots is free. Anyone who's owned an EV in Singapore knows that carpark charges can quietly eat into what you'd otherwise save versus running a petrol car, so removing that friction is a meaningful perk, not just a marketing line. Add to that Charge+'s already competitive tariffs, and the cost equation for topping up here looks pretty favourable compared to a lot of other public charging options around.
There's also a rewards angle worth mentioning if you're the sort who likes to stack every bit of value you can. Charge+, Giant, 7-Eleven and Guardian are all under the same yuu Rewards Club umbrella, so a grocery run while your car charges can also be racking up points. On top of that, Charge+ says its DBS yuu Visa Card tie-up now offers cash rebates of up to 18% — currently the highest loyalty rebate going for EV charging in Singapore, if that claim holds up against the rest of the market.
The bigger picture
Zoom out and this fits into what Charge+ has been steadily building across the region — it now operates more than 6,000 charging points across Southeast Asia, with a stated target of 30,000 globally by 2030, and it's also chipping away at a 5,000km charging corridor meant to eventually link Singapore to Hanoi. Locally, this cluster also slots into LTA's push to get fast charging hubs into every HDB town, part of the broader push toward Singapore's 2040 cleaner-energy vehicle goals.
Park once, charge, and knock out the IKEA trip, the grocery run and a COURTS browse while you're at it — that's the kind of real-world convenience that actually shifts EV ownership from "workable" to "easy."
Whether any of that matters to you day-to-day is a fair question. What matters more practically: if you're an EV owner in the East or Northeast, you now have a genuinely useful reason to route your weekend errands through Tampines Retail Park. That's more useful to most drivers than any press-release superlative about being the "largest" anything.
