XPENG G6 Review
A Bold Electric Statement on Wheels

Editor : Mark K | Cars&TechSG
In a rapidly evolving EV market, the Xpeng G6 arrives as a bold contender aiming to blend cutting-edge technology with everyday practicality. Positioned as a mid-size electric SUV, the G6 not only marks a significant step forward for Xpeng's global ambitions but also challenges established players with its sleek design, competitive pricing, and impressive feature set. In this review, I take a closer look at what the G6 has to offer—on the road, inside the cabin, and under the hood—to see if it truly delivers on its promise of smart, efficient, and engaging electric mobility.

Unveiling the Ride
Let's start with the front—because honestly, that's what first grabbed my attention. The G6 has this super clean, futuristic look that feels straight out of a sci-fi movie, but not in an over-the-top way. The full-width LED light bar gives it a kind of sleek, high-tech vibe, especially at night when it lights up in one smooth line. It's one of those designs that makes you turn around for a second glance—even if you're the one driving it.
There's no traditional grille, which is pretty common for EVs, but the G6 pulls it off nicely. Instead, it has this smooth, aerodynamic face that looks both sporty and minimal. It's clear Xpeng wanted to make a statement here without going too wild, and I think they nailed the balance. The front bumper has a bit of an aggressive edge too, which adds to the sporty feel without trying too hard.
Overall, the front design sets the tone for the whole car—it's modern, a little bold, and definitely stands out in traffic.
From the side, the G6 has a sleek, coupe-like profile that gives it a sporty edge without overdoing it. The sloping roofline and smooth body lines make it look more dynamic than your average SUV. Flush door handles and clean details keep it modern, and the proportions just feel right—not too big, not too small. The wheels fill out the arches nicely, and overall, it's got a confident, stylish presence that stands out without shouting for attention.
Around the back, the G6 continues the modern, streamlined design language. There's another full-width LED light bar (yes, it's a trend, but it works here) and a slightly raised rear bumper that gives the car a planted, wide look. The sloping roof tapers into a tidy rear hatch, which looks great but slightly compromises rear headroom. Still, it ties the whole exterior design together really well.

Interior Impressions:
Step inside the G6 and the first thing you'll probably notice is how clean and modern everything feels. Xpeng's clearly going for that minimalist, Tesla-style interior—but it doesn't come off as bare or boring. The dashboard is low and uncluttered, dominated by a massive 14.96-inch central touchscreen that controls almost everything, from climate settings to navigation and drive modes. There's also a sleek digital instrument cluster behind the wheel that gives you just the essentials.
Material quality is solid—soft-touch surfaces where it counts, nice stitching details, and a premium vibe that punches above its price. The front seats are comfy and supportive, with heating and ventilation available on higher trims. The panoramic glass roof adds to the airy, open feel, and the driving position is right where it should be.

Feature-wise, the G6 packs a lot: wireless phone charging, ambient lighting, a surprisingly punchy sound system, and smart voice controls that actually respond well. The infotainment system is snappy and well-designed, with a user-friendly interface. All in all, it's a space that feels modern, comfortable, and smarter than you might expect.

In the back, there's plenty of legroom—even for taller folks—and the sloping roof doesn't eat into headroom too much. The cargo space is practical, with a wide opening and flat load floor. There's no frunk, but the rear trunk is generous, and there's extra storage under the floor. You also get the usual conveniences like roomy cup holders, door bins, and a decent-sized center console.

On Road Performance:
Behind the wheel, the Xpeng G6 impresses with a confident and composed ride. Body roll is well controlled for an SUV with its coupe-like design, making cornering feel stable and reassuring without sacrificing comfort. The suspension strikes a nice balance, smoothing out Singapore's often bumpy roads while keeping the car planted and poised.
Acceleration is smooth but strong—the electric motor delivers power instantly, so merging onto expressways or overtaking feels effortless and engaging. The G6's steering is notably responsive and precise, giving you plenty of confidence whether you're navigating tight city streets or cruising on the highway.
The handling is agile and stable, with sharp steering feedback that makes urban driving and highway cruising equally enjoyable. The regenerative braking system is smooth and intuitive, allowing for comfortable one-pedal driving in stop-and-go traffic, with adjustable regen levels to suit your driving style.
One feature that stood out during my test was the self-parking system. The precise parking technology effortlessly handled tight spots, smoothly steering the car into parallel and perpendicular spaces with impressive accuracy—ideal for Singapore's crowded urban environment.
Inside, the cabin is impressively quiet, with minimal road and wind noise filtering through. This quietness, combined with the spacious interior and panoramic roof, creates a calm and relaxing environment, perfect for daily commutes or longer drives around the island.
As for range, the Singapore-spec G6 offers an estimated WLTP range of around 560 km on a full charge, which comfortably covers most daily needs and weekend trips without frequent recharging. Fast charging capability also means you can replenish the battery quickly on the go, making longer journeys hassle-free.

The Bottom Line:
The Xpeng G6 is a refreshing addition to Singapore's EV market, delivering a harmonious blend of sophisticated design, advanced technology, and everyday practicality. It offers a premium cabin experience with thoughtful touches like Rest Mode, enhancing comfort and convenience in daily use. However, the absence of ambient lighting is a slight miss in what could otherwise feel like a fully luxurious interior.
While the touchscreen-focused controls and slightly limited rear headroom present minor compromises, they hardly detract from the overall appeal. For discerning drivers seeking an elegant, tech-forward electric SUV that stands apart from the crowd—and who value innovation without the premium price tag—the G6 is a compelling choice that promises both style and substance for Singapore's urban roads.
