In this review, we focus on the CAT A Luxury Variant, which blends advanced driver assistance features, intelligent automation, and everyday usability into a refined yet engaging driving package.

The IM5 Electric Sedan presents a bold and aerodynamic design that blends sporty proportions with luxury-inspired elegance. Its long, sweeping roofline and wide stance create a low-slung profile that immediately communicates performance intent. The sculpted body panels and clean character lines contribute to a modern, minimalist aesthetic while also serving functional aerodynamic purposes.

At the front, the sharp LED lighting signature complements the aggressive yet refined look. The headlights provide excellent illumination coverage while maintaining a slim, futuristic appearance. Indicator signals are synchronised with interior speaker feedback, creating an audible confirmation that enhances driver awareness — a small but thoughtful detail that reflects the vehicle's technology-driven philosophy.

From the side profile, the IM5's wide track and low centre of gravity give it a planted and confident road presence. From traffic light launches to overtaking manoeuvres, the IM5 provides confident and predictable power delivery that suits daily driving conditions well.

Steering response is sharp and communicative, giving the driver a strong sense of control. Despite its wide body, the vehicle corners with confidence, maintaining stability and composure through bends. Body roll is well managed, and the chassis feels planted even during more spirited driving and driving through rough terrains, reinforcing its sporty driving character.

Braking performance is supported by an integrated high-performance braking system developed by Continental, delivering consistent stopping power and reassuring pedal feedback across varying speeds.

Advanced driver assistance technologies further enhance the overall driving experience. The Proactive Vision Supplement System uses surrounding cameras to display real-time changes in road conditions, improving situational awareness and driver confidence. Parking manoeuvres are simplified through the intelligent iAD system, which enables one-touch automated parking, pull-out, reverse parking, and curbside parking functions. The inclusion of "crab mode" adds an extra layer of low-speed manoeuvrability, particularly useful in tight urban environments and confined parking spaces.

One minor trade-off comes from the rear windscreen design. While its smaller size contributes to the IM5's sporty and distinctive rear profile, a wider rear window would provide improved rearward visibility and greater driver confidence, especially during manual parking or lane changes.

In terms of efficiency and charging, the IM5 is equipped with a 75 kWh battery that offers a WLTP combined range of up to 440 km. DC fast charging from 10% to 80% can be completed in approximately 25 minutes, making longer journeys and quick charging stops practical and convenient.
