A Bold Electric Statement on Wheels

The moment I picked up the keys to the Cupra Tavascan, I knew I was in for something special. And wow—what a presence! The exterior doesn't just turn heads; it commands attention like a concept car that somehow made it to production.

Unveiling the Ride

The aggressive front fascia is unmistakably Cupra—bold, futuristic, and unapologetically sporty. The illuminated Cupra badge gleams like a jewel, flanked by sharply sculpted LED headlights and an angular bonnet that gives the Tavascan a menacing, almost predatory stare. It's not just a car—it's a rolling piece of design rebellion.

Swinging to the side, the Tavascan VZ flaunts its massive 21-inch Two-Tone Exclusive Alloy Wheels, which fill the arches perfectly and give the EV a planted, muscular stance. The coupe-like silhouette and flowing roofline hint at performance and precision, blending SUV practicality with sports car flair.

At the rear, the design language comes full circle. A full-width illuminated tailbar elegantly stretches across the back, once again showcasing the lit Cupra logo, subtly reinforcing its identity even in the dark. It's clean, sharp, and striking—everything you want from a next-gen performance EV.

Interior Impressions:

It made me felt instantly wrapped in a cabin that feels like a high-tech lounge crossed with a performance cockpit. Front and centre is a bold 15-inch floating touchscreen—the largest ever in a Cupra. It's sharp, responsive, and easy to navigate, putting all your controls within sleek, digital reach.

Paired with a 12-speaker Sennheiser sound system, the interior turns into your personal concert space. Whether you're vibing on the way to work or cranking up your weekend playlist, the audio experience is crystal-clear and immersive.

The sculpted bucket seats, crafted from recycled materials, strike the perfect balance between eco-conscious and race-inspired. They're snug, stylish, and ready to support you through long hauls or tight corners.

One of the first things you'll notice when the sun goes down? The ambient lighting in the Cupra Tavascan isn't just subtle trim—it's a full-blown experience. Think Alienware laptop meets gaming room at 2AM. Lines of light pulse across the dash, flow into the doors, and even wrap around the centre console, giving the cabin a seriously futuristic glow.

Each drive mode changes the lighting scheme—calm and cool in Comfort, sharp and aggressive in Sport—as if the car itself is shifting personalities. The colours aren't muted either. They're bold, clean, and deliberate, just like the rest of the car's design language.

At night, the entire interior feels like you've stepped into a sci-fi control room or a tricked-out gaming pod. It's not just ambient light—it's part of the Tavascan's attitude. And it's addictive.

If you're the type who sets your RGB keyboard and PC fans to match your mood, this lighting setup is going to feel like home—but on four wheels.

Despite the sporty sloping roofline, I was pleasantly surprised by how practical the Tavascan is, especially for rear passengers. The flat floor design really opens up the legroom in the back—my friends were comfortable even on longer drives, with plenty of space to stretch out. The 540-litre boot easily fits everything from luggage to groceries and sports gear, making it perfect for everyday use.

Visibility around the car is generally good, but I did notice the thick rear pillars create some blind spots. That's why the 360° camera system felt like a must-have, especially when squeezing into tight HDB parking spots here in Singapore.

For rear passengers, the comfort features stand out. They get their own air-conditioning vents with adjustable airflow and handy USB-C ports to keep their devices charged on the go. The ambient lighting extends into the rear doors too, adding a relaxed, modern vibe that makes the cabin feel welcoming.

On Road Performance:

From my time behind the wheel, the Tavascan VZ feels much more than just a looker—it's genuinely engaging to drive. At high speeds, I noticed how well it handles with minimal body roll; even when taking corners briskly, my passengers stayed comfortably planted without any side-to-side sway. The car's body feels exceptionally well managed, giving me confidence no matter how twisty the road gets.

Underneath all that style is serious substance. The dual-motor AWD setup, pushing 335 bhp and 545 Nm of torque, rockets the Tavascan from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.6 seconds. Around town, it's impressively smooth and composed, making everyday driving effortless. On the expressway, it tightens up beautifully—sharp and planted, with strong acceleration and rock-solid handling, thanks to the adaptive dampers (DCC Sport) and responsive steering that puts you in full control. Staying ahead of traffic, not an issue here.

Even in Comfort mode, I found the ride strikes a great balance—firm enough to keep the body controlled but with enough softness to soak up Singapore's bumpy roads. When I switched to Sport mode, the car transformed—the steering became even more responsive, throttle response grew eager, and the suspension stiffened up—turning the Tavascan into a proper driver's EV that's fun and dynamic.

TThe Bottom Line:

If you crave a distinctive electric ride with character, sporty driving dynamics, and a modern, immersive interior—the Tavascan VZ delivers in spades. It's perfect for early adopters who want to stand out and enjoy driving with a confident, emotional connection.

If your priority is purely maximum range, or the absolute lowest cost EV on the market, you might want to explore other options. But if you value a bold design, dynamic handling, and premium tech, this is one of the best designed all-around EVs available in Singapore today.

Then again, a side note, the road tax cost might hinder your decision in getting the car?
